TRURO SEND 6 TO COMMONWEALTHS

6 Fencers from Truro Fencing Club will compete at the Commonwealth Championships in Belfast in September. Jon Salfield and Katie Hendra have been picked for England at Men's and Women's Sabre, Maxine McCombie and Al Jupp will fence for Wales in Women's and Men's Sabre, Maggie McWilliams competes in Women's Sabre for Northern Ireland, and Hannah Bryars represents Scotland at Women's Foil. This represents an extraordinary achievement for the club, and we look forward to them returning with a big haul of medals!

9 TRURO YOUTH FENCERS PICKED FOR INTERNATIONAL

In the selections for the 2006 Kenten Youth Sabre International, taking place in Germany this Autumn, an astonishing 9 Truro Youth fencers have earned their call up. Headed up by international fencers James Honeybone in the Boys' Cadet, Danni Michell in the Girls U17s and Noah Rogerson in the boys' U12s, the Truro group also includes new caps William Hosking, Charlie Croggon, Robert Macpherson, William Lewis Dickson and Fraser Woodburn in the Boys' U12s, and Alice Maidwell-Smith in the Girls' U14s. Truro will provide exactly 50% of the Boys' GB U12 squad

BONEHILL STRIKES WELSH GOLD

At the Celtic Challenge Veterans' Tournament in Wrexham, Richard Bonehill was Truro's sole representative, but made up for that with an excellent performance. In an event involving fencers from Scotland, Eire, N Ireland, Wales, Isle of Man, and of course Cornwall, Richard took the Gold medal in the Men's Sabre event, and finished an excellent 5th in the Men's Epee. Next year the club hopes to enter a team into the event - contact Richard if you'd like to take part.

TRURO AND LEON PAUL CLINCH SPONSORSHIP DEAL

Leon Paul Fencing Equipment and Truro Fencing Club have agreed a 24 month sponsorship deal. Truro Club will buy exclusively Leon Paul equipment, continue to organise the Cornwall LPJS Foil, run a new Leon Paul Cadet Sabre Tournament, and encourage new members to purchase from LP. In return LP will continue to supply kit to events organised by the club, including the Duel on the Beach and other events; sponsor the club's 3 senior coaches; and offer preferential prices to the club on all kit.
