I run a number of monthly poetry groups in partnership with Cornwall Library and Adult Education Services. They are informal, relaxed and friendly, with the aim of enjoying poetry and encouraging your writing.
Format
Each month I set an optional theme for people to write on. You're welcome to bring a poem whether it's on the theme or not. And if you don't have a poem - just bring yourself!
We begin each session by discussing a poem on theme written by an established poet, then go on to look participants' own work (please bring copies to share with the group). Constructive feedback is encouraged (though time is necessarily limited).

Penzance Poetry Group
Meets: on the 1st Monday (12.30-2.30) and 3rd Thursday (10.00-12.00) of the month. NB from 5 October the Monday group will be changing to the 1st Thursday of the month, from 10.00am to 12.00pm.
Venue: Chy Gwella, 53 Morrab Road, Penzance
Cost: £2 donation towards room hire, 50p for tea, coffee and biscuits
Truro Library Poetry Group
Meets: on the 2nd Thursday of the month, between 2.15pm and 4.15pm.
Venue: Truro Library, Union Place, Truro
Cost: 20p for tea, coffee and biscuits
Newquay Library Poetry Group
Meets: on the 2nd Friday of the month, between 11.00am and 1.00pm.
Venue: Newquay Library, Marcus Hill, Newquay
Cost: 20p for tea, coffee and biscuits
Pallas Poets
A private group run in Penzance through The Poetry Practice. Members commit to meeting monthly to give poems a thorough work-shopping. There is a £7.00 fee per session. Numbers are strictly limited. There are currently no places available, but you're welcome to chat to me about what we do, or to put your name on the waiting list.
